Shocked yet? And these are national
averages – meaning that the lawyers here in Los Angeles and San
Francisco are counted in
with the lawyers in Denver and Minneapolis. Which group do you think is
driving these numbers up? So, with a couple of years of experience,
you’re paying $300 an hour for a lawyer’s time.
What’s the dirty little secret of law
firm billing? They charge you 3x what they’re paying the lawyer. So, if
they’re offering $150,000 a year to a first year attorney – and they want
2000 billable hours out of them … that’s $75 an hour, which means you’re
paying $225 – for a guy who graduated law school six months ago.
Want to know what else you’re paying
for? Everything. Legal research and the time spent doing it. Phone
calls. E-mails. Printing and copying (oh yes, and at .10 a page, too).
Parking, when you visit the office (yes, that validation is going on
your tab).
MyContractsGuy.com is legal service done right. Done simply.
Done better.
